What is this project all about?

The traveller community has recently resurged in the public consciousness after the success of ‘My Big Fat Gyspy Wedding’, reinforcing criticism that mainstream representations of the traveller community are negative and stereotyped. Using local and national resources, and engaging with people and organisations engaged with the traveller community, you should assess the forms and availability of education to young travellers.

The aim of the project is to research and assess the education opportunities for young members of the traveller community. You should look at both formal and informal learning contexts, and consider wider social assumptions and their impact on effective education.
